Altitude 7,657 to 8,241 feet. **Call first to ensure Barbara or Bob will be available at the inn when you arrive to register. Toll free 888-292-0248. Trail is on county-and BLM-maintained gravel roads through high plains & rolling hills. The 7K walk travels halfway to South Pass City and takes an isolated road past Duncan and Mary Ellen mines. The 16K walk travels past the King Solomon and restored Carissa gold mines through South Pass City to the South Pass City cemetery, and returns via the isolated road past the Duncan and Mary Ellen gold mines. South Pass City has vending machines and public toilets; the South Pass City Mercantile may be open for cold drinks and Wyoming-made candies. Walk during daylight hours only. Dogs should be leashed. Use sunscreen.
