Description: Daily 8 am to dusk. Trail starts at Mentor Headlands State Beach, then goes by Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve, one of the last remaining examples of a Lake Erie dune area. Route also follows a portion of the Buckeye Trail near the Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. Trail is generally flat, but beach portion is difficult due to sand; wooded portion has some hills and tree roots. There are two different 5K options. One 5K will take you on the beach portion and the other takes you through the wooded portion. Bring your camera for this fantastic walk.

Start Point / Driving Directions: 4680 Corduroy Road, Mentor, OH 44060 You will drive to start point from the Convenient. From the east: I-90W to State Route 44 north. Merge onto State Route 2 west then take the continuation of St Rt 44 North. Exit at St Rt 283 (Grand River/Mentor) and turn left onto 283. Turn right at 1st light, Corduroy Rd. From the west: I-90E to St Rt 2 East. Exit at St Rt 44 North and turn left. Exit at St Rt 283 (Grand River/Mentor) and turn left. Turn right at 1st light, Corduroy Rd.
