Description:
|
Hudson was established by fur traders on the St. Croix River in the 1840s, and developed into a prosperous steam boating and lumber center within 20 years. Stately buildings hearken back to a Victorian era of wealthy merchants and lumber barons. ----- The walk will consist of two loops. Loop #1 (6K) will be mainly in the downtown and historic residential part of Hudson. The walk will also take you out Dike Road, to the middle of the St Croix River, for what should be beautiful fall foliage vistas. ----- Loop #2 (5K), a little bit more strenuous, will take you up to and through Willow River Cemetery and will then proceed to Prospect Park for a grand view of Hudson and the St Croix River.
