NEW START POINT 7/1/2009 --- Daylight Hours Only 8 AM-4PM. Walkbox on porch. Gallery open most afternoons. Walkers should bring water. The trail is 11 Km and has a 1+ rating. The trail uses city sidewalks and the shoulder of generally rural roads to pass scenic Choptank River views, historic homes, period museums (The Rural Life Museum and the Denton Maritime Museum) , the Caroline County Courthouse and flavorful Town of Denton. Watts Creek and Choptank River exposures at Martinak State Park offer chances to experience scenes as depicted by James Michener's "Chesapeake". Sports strollers can navigate the trail. No pets permitted in state park - directions have alternate path for them. This walk is a Caroline County walk.. Author - Sophie Kerr. President Franklin Roosevelt. Caroline County Arts Council (The Foundry), 401 Market St. Denton, MD 21629 (410) 479-1009. From US Route 50/301 Chesapeake Bay Bridge, travel east towards Ocean City. Bear right at 301/50 split and remain on Route 50. Turn LEFT onto Route 404 (about 12 miles from 301/50 split). Signs will say Cape May/Lewes Ferry/ Denton/ Rehoboth Beach. Denton is approximately 9 more miles. Take Business MD 404, cross the Choptank River to the square fronting the Caroline County Courthouse. Continue past Bank on Market Street. Turn LEFT on Third Street. Park in Municipal Parking on Third St. on right. The Arts Council is green building one block over on Market and Fourth St. Walkbox on porch around to side of building on Fourth St.). Employees are not familiar with volksmarching and will not be able to answer questions about the walk. Public restroom are located at the Denton Police Station on the corner of Third St. and Gay St. Police station entrace is on Third St. Look for two garage doors, bldg is not marked on Gay St. Police Station is open 24 hours.

It is a quiet town, but if you need assistance- To contact a patrol officer after business hours call the Caroline County Sheriff's Office at 410-479-2515 and request to have a Denton Officer return your call.
