Mon-Fri 9:00am-4:30pm; Sat 10:00am-4:00pm; Sun 1:00-5:00pm; closed major holidays. The route begins in downtown Lansing & travels past many of the buildings in the State Office Complex (including the restored century-old State Capitol building); through the campus of Lansing Community College; through historic neighborhoods, and along the Grand River Trail. Plan to spend two hours exploring the Michigan Historical Museum (free admission).

702 W. Kalamazoo St., (517) 373-3559, www.michiganhistory.org. The start box is at Information Counter in the Museum Archives. FROM I-96, take Exit 101 (Logan/ML King). Go north on ML King for several miles, crossing I-496. FROM I-496, take Exit 5 (Logan/ML King). Turn north on ML King, following the "Capitol Loop" signs. ALL-Turn right on Kalamazoo Street (first light after crossing I-496). The parking lot is 2 blocks on the left. There is a nominal parking fee on weekdays.
