Description: NOTE: Beginning April 1, 2016 there is an entry fee to the Nature Preserve. The fee is $5 for adults 13 and older, $3 for children 3 to 12, and free for 3 and under. Alternate trail for muddy days and inclement weather. Caution: board walks become slick in rainy weather. Hours start point 9am-5pm Tu, W, Th, F and Sat. Noon to 5PM Sun. Start Point / Driving Directions: Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve 551 N Boeke. 812-479-0771 (no phone weekends) N or S on US 41 take Loyd Expressway (SR 66) E. I-164 take Lloyd, Rt 66, W. Follow Expressway to Boeke exit. N on Boeke about 2 blocks to park entrance on right. Nature center in back of park. Parking at nature center and recycling center.

Comments: The nature center trail is on unpaved park paths and board walks, all in a forest setting. This is an old growth forest of exceptionally high quality virgin bottomland hardwood. You will walk along the towpath of the Wabash and Erie canal and two railroad beds now abandoned.The park has over 300 species of wild flowers, 150 species of birds, and numerous mammals, including deer and reptiles. This is an Indiana Department of Natural Resources property, please follow the park rules. There is no fee to enter the nature center, however donations are accepted. >>Alternate Trail<< University of Evansville College Campus Walk. This trail, rated 1A, is on city streets and meanders in and out of the campus of the U of E and the neighborhoods nearby. Established in 1854, the University is a fully accredited, private liberal arts, and sciences based institution, affiliated with the United Methodist Church. (The alternate trail special programs are American Baseball and Fraternal Organizations)
The Nature Center is closed on Monday. Hours of Nature Center are 9am to 5pm Tuesday thru Saturday, noon to 5PM Sunday. NOTE: Beginning April 1, 2016 there is an entry fee to the Nature Preserve. The fee is $5 for adults 13 and older, $3 for children 3 to 12, and free for 3 and under. The Walk box is on the shelf behind the reception desk to the left as you enter the Nature Center. The desk may not be staffed so help yourself.
