Description: This route will be on the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail which has a smooth, crushed stone surface and runs through the beautiful farmland of the Cumberland Valley. The 30K route is an out and back from Shippensburg to the rest stop at the Newville trailhead; the 17K is an out and back to Oakville. Bicycles with a wider tire (hybrid or mountain bike) are recommended; road bikes will have difficulty. Bike helmets must be worn.

Comments: This guided bike event is being done in conjunction with the Race, Run, Ride & Ramble sponsored by the Cumberland Valley Rails-to-Trails Council. Funds raised from this event go towards trail maintenance and the expansion of the rail trail from Newville to Carlisle. Volkssporters must be registered for the Race, Run, Ride & Ramble.*****The registration form for the event is at Cost for the fund-raiser is $20 if registered by mail by April 7 (or if registered online by 8 pm on April 20). Registration must be received by April 8 to be guaranteed T-shirt size. Registration costs $30 on the day of the event. Participants will receive a t-shirt, snacks at the rest stop, and a chicken BBQ dinner. IVV credit is an additional $3.00. ****The Race, Run, Ride, and Ramble has traditionally been held on a Sunday. This year it is being held on a Saturday in conjunction with the the Shippensburg Historical Society BrewFest, Enjoy music, food, beer tasting. The BrewFest starts at 1230 and is at the Shippensburg Station which is on the CVRT, about 1K south of the Township Park. Participants in the Race, Run, Ride, and Ramble receive a discounted admission to the BrewFest.
