Comments: During the 1919 Hurricane which ravaged Corpus Christi , the island residents made their way to the highest point on the island, which is just off the beach near the current location of the UT Marine Science Institute, where they huddled and prayed for the hurricane to abate. Their prayers were answered and they survived.
