Distance - Trail Ratings: 3K, 7K and 10K - 1A
Description: 10K consists of separate 7K and 3K loops. The 7K is along the Columbia River, through the community of Vantage, and goes to Ginkgo State Park visitor center with petroglyphs and lots of petrified logs. Visitor center has limited days/hours when it is open to view the inside exhibits. From 4/1 to 5/15 and from 9/16 to 10/31, it is open Fri/Sat/Sun 11am to 6pm. From 5/16-9/15, it is open daily 11am to 6pm. Logs and petroglyphs can be seen around the visitor center grounds anytime during the day. You then drive 2.75 miles to the state park interpretive site and the 3K "Trees of Stone" hiking trails. Driving directions to 3K trail are on walking directions. Info on Ginkgo State Park found at: Sturdy shoes or hiking boots recommended for 3K. 7K route is a 2B while 3K trail is a 2C. Pets allowed on leash. Wash. State Discover Pass required for 3K parking lot unless you park along highway. Day passes available for sale in 3K lot.

Location: Best Western Plus (In Ellensburg)
Start Point / Driving Directions: 211 W. Umptanum Rd, Ellensburg, WA 98926. WESTBOUND or EASTBOUND on I-90, take Exit 109. Turn right (north) on Canyon Road to Umptanum Rd stoplight. Turn left on Umptanum Rd, cross the railroad tracks and hotel is on the right. Ask for "walk box" at registration desk. REMOTE WALK. After registering, you will drive about 30 miles to the walk start point. Driving directions to walk start are on the walk directions. Daily, dawn to dusk.
Awards & Fees: IVV Credit Only
Comments: There is very little shade on the walk. Carry shade and water. A wildfire burned through the 3K "Trees of Stone" trail section in June. It caused no damage to the trail but may have damaged some of the small wooden signs at the trail junctions that are referred to in the walk directions. Walkers may have to rely more on the map.
