Description: This trail is the abandoned Milwaukee Road RR grade that is mostly hard-packed gravel except for portions on the Army base that are soft sand. The trail is 177K from near North Bend to the Columbia River with several intermediate trailheads. Drive to the trailhead of your choice and track your kilometers for your distance accomplished. Distances are described between each trailhead in each of the section listings. Portions of the trail from Easton to Ollalie State Park may have snow on them until June 1st due to heavy winter snow seasons. The Hyak tunnel is open to ride through from May 1 - October 31. The trail on the Yakima training center between Army West and Army East trailheads may be closed to entry at times for training purposes. Check Washington State Parks and Yakima Training Center websites for closures. Start Point / Driving Directions: REGISTRATION: Please use the online start box provided by the California Volkssport Association website ( Follow the left side link, 'Online Start Box', and the instructions provided to sign a waiver and register for this event. Payments for event credit and directions use PayPal. The directions and insert cards are PDF's that you can download and print as needed. The POC does not provide event directions or accept alternative payment methods. The entire online process should take less than 10 minutes for a first time user.
Driving Directions: DRIVE TO START POINTS at any of the trailheads along I-90 near North Bend (Cedar Falls), Ollalie State Park, Hyak (Snoqualmie Pass), Easton, South Cle Elum, Thorp, Ellensburg, Kittitas and Vantage. Comments: PPSF Restrooms or pit toilets are available at most of the trailheads. Helmets are required on all AVA bike events. Pets on leash only.
