Description: 2017 is the 100th Anniversary of the United States entering World War I. The War Department owned the Gettysburg battlefield at the time and they established Camp Colt in 1917 in the area where Picketts Charge had occurred. Camp Colt opened in March 1918 with Captain Dwight D Eisenhower in charge. It was the first post to train American Soldiers to use tanks during World War I. This walk starts at the Weinbrenner Parking Area and will feature sites in Gettysburg associated with World War I.

Start Point / Driving Directions: 865 York Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325

From the North or South: Take US 15 to the York St (US-30) Exit. Follow US 30 West/York St towards Gettysburg for one mile to Days Inn. Located on the left side behind Perkins Restaurant.

From the East: Take US 30 West to Gettysburg. Cross US 15 and continue on US 30 West/York St one mile to Days Inn. Located on the left side behind Perkins Restaurant.

From the West: Take US 30 East to Gettysburg. Travel through Lincoln Square, continuing on US 30 East/Chambersburg St. Days Inn is on the right side, one mile east of Lincoln Square. Located on the right side behind Perkins Restaurant.

Comments: Registration on Friday and Saturday between 9:00 am 5:00 pm; Sunday between 9:00 am 1:00 pm. Participants must finish by 4:00 pm on Sunday. *****

Pets are not allowed inside Gettysburg National Cemetery. *****

The A Award is a 1" hat pin which features a French Renault Tank. American Soldiers at Gettysburgs Camp Colt trained with these tanks during WW I. We have one hundred pins; there will not be a reorder.*****
