WELCOME: This event is a non-competitive walk sponsored by the Volkssport Club of West Point. It is open to everyone and is free if you do not want IVV credit. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
AWARD: No A award.
FEES:- Fee for IVV credit only is $3.00
- There is no fee for those who do not wish to receive IVV credit.
TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS: A 10 kilometer (approximately 6.2 miles) self-guided walk (trail instructions provided) through the Villages of Nelsonville and Cold Spring. Spectacular views of the Hudson River. You’ll walk by many 19th century historic buildings, antique shops, boutiques, specialty stores, West Point Foundry site, and restaurants. No fee required UNLESS the participant(s) wish official American Volkssport Association (AVA) credit as part of their national walking program. http://www.hudsonvalleyramble.com/
TRAIL RATING: 2+ for a faily steep hill. (A moderately easy walk on some pavement or some woodland or open field trails. No significantly difficult hills. Possibly not suitable for wheelchairs and strollers)
START POINT LOCATION & HOURS: Masonic Hall Parking Lot, Pearl Street, Cold Spring NY
Start: 10:00 A.M.to 1:00 P.M. Finish by 4:00 P.M. 10 day forcast for Cold Spring, NY and vicinity.
PROCEDURE: Each participant must receive an event card and sign a waiver at the start. The event card must be turned in at the finish, regardless of whether or not you complete the walk.
PRE-REGISTRATION:There is no pre-registration for this event.
WATER & RESTROOMS: Water at the Starting Point will be available. Bathrooms are available at the various places along the trail.
DIRECTIONS:- From NY State Route 9D: Route 9D to Route 301 in the Village of Cold Spring. East on Rt 301 up the hill for about 4/10 of a mile. Left on Pearl Street. Meet at the Masonic Temple parking lot.
- From US Route 9: Route 9 to the Route 301 Intersection. West on Route 301 towards Nelsonville and Cold Spring. Approximately 2.1 miles to Pearl Street, take right. Proceed to Masonic Temple parking lot.
PARKING: There is parking available at or near the Start/Finish Point.
PETS: Dogs are allowed on a leash of not more that 10 feet. Pets are not permitted in buildings.
CONDITIONS: This event will be held regardless of weather conditions. There will be no refunds.
