WELCOME

This event is a non-competitive walk sponsored by the Volkssport Club of West Point.  It is open to everyone and is free if you do not want IVV credit.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

START/FINISH LOCATION

Henry Hudson Waterfront Park on the east bank of the Hudson River, directly behind the City of Hudson, NY Amtrak Station

 

START/FINISH TIMES

Register between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  Finish by 4 PM.

 

PROCEDURE

Each participant must receive an event card and sign a waiver at the start.  The event card must be turned in at the finish, regardless of whether or not you complete the walk.

 

PARKING

There is parking available at or near the Start/Finish Point in the public parking lot.

 

PREREGISTRATION

There is no preregistration for this event.

 

FEES AND AWARDS

IVV credit only is $3. The walk is free for those who wish to participate without receiving IVV credit.  There is no “A” award for this walk.

 

TRAIL DESCRIPTION

A 5 and 10 kilometer self-guided walk mostly on city sidewalks - trail instructions provided. You’ll view and read about many of the buildings and attractions of the City of Hudson, which contains a variety of wonderful antique stores, restaurants, churches, book stores, pubs, and some lovely views of the Hudson River.

FACILITIES

Water and Rest Rooms will be available at the Starting Point as well as various restaurants and gas stations along the route.

 

SANCTION & IVV CREDIT

This event has been sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association (AVA) and the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV). Fee paying participants will be eligible to earn IVV credit for distance and event.

 

CONDITIONS

This event will be held regardless of weather conditions.  There will be no refunds.

 

PETS

Pets are allowed on this walk on leash, but not allowed in buildings. Please pick up dog’s waste.

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT

Taconic Parkway:

Exit to Route 82 (exit marked “Hudson/Ancram”); approximately 5 miles West to Rt. 9 North; follow into Hudson to left onto Warren Street (US Route 9 becomes Warren Street).; Left at end of Warren (Hudson’s main street) on to Front Street; right onto Ferry St.; Drive to ”Henry Hudson Waterfront Park” public parking lot.

The start point is very close to the City of Hudson Amtrak Parking Lot.

Take the Amtrak to Hudson Station!

Upon disembarking, walk west (away from the city’s buildings) towards the Hudson River to “Henry Hudson Waterfront Park”.
