CLUB: Volkssport Club of West Point

WELCOME: This event is a non-competitive walk sponsored by the Volkssport Club of West Point. It is open to everyone and is free if you do not want IVV credit. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.


FEES:
  • Fee for IVV credit is $3.
  • Events are free to those who wish to participate without receiving IVV credit
TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS: The 10 KM trail goes through village neighborhoods of Central Valley, NY. The walk also includes a complete circuit of the outdoor paved walks of the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets passing more than 200 brand name outlet stores. The remainder of the walk is located on sidewalks and village streets with the exception of about 300m of gravel road/path. Scenic views of Harriman State Park mountains. The 5 KM trail includes the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets circuit and follows gravel paths around the Monroe Woodbury School District athletic fields.

TRAIL RATING: 2 - Moderately easy, could have natural surface, no difficult hills.

START POINT LOCATION & HOURS: The Central Valley Elementary School parking lot, Route 32, Central Valley, NY 10917 . Start times: between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, finish by 4 PM.

PRE-REGISTRATION: There is no pre-registration.

WATER & RESTROOMS: Water at the Starting Point will be available. Bathrooms are available in Woodbury Commons.

DIRECTIONS:
  • FROM INTERSTATE I-87:
    • Take Exit 16 towards NYS Rte. 17 West.
    • After passing through the tolls, keep right and take the first exit on the right towards Central Valley, Rt 32. On exit ramp avoid taking right ramp into Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, instead bear left then turn right at traffic signal onto Rt 32 North. The Central Valley Elementary School is immediately on the left. Go straight through the first traffic signal then at the next signal, turn left into the school grounds. Follow the drive past the front of the school and turn right into the parking lot.
  • FROM NYS RTE. 17 TRAVELING EAST:
    • Take Exit 131 and turn left at the traffic signal onto NYS Rte. 32 towards Central Valley.
    • Go straight through the next 2 traffic signals.
    • The Central Valley Elementary School is on the left. Turn left at the next traffic signal into the school grounds. Follow the drive past the front of the school and turn right into the parking lot.

PARKING: There is parking available at the start/finish.

Refreshments: There is an indoor food court at Woodbury Commons.

PETS: Dogs are not allowed in buildings, Food Court or shops at Woodbury Commons, but are allowed on grounds. Cleanup after pets is mandatory. Dogs should be on a leash of not more than 10 feet.

CONDITIONS: This event will be held regardless of weather conditions.
