TRAIL DESCRIPTION:
The 10km walk route explores Newport’s rich maritime history and prominence as a vacation spot for the wealthy. Among the deepest natural harbors in the country, Newport’s 150 wharves once bustled with activity. The seaport atmosphere remains with cobblestone walkways, restored 18 th and 19 th century commercial shops, and the magnificent harbor now packed with elegant yachts. The return route traverses the newly renovated portion of the scenic Cliff Walk passing mansions and Salve Regina College. The AVA course rating is 2.0, suitable for strollers, but no wheelchairs.
