This event qualifies for the Cemetery Stroll, and for an extra K, the River Walk America Special Walking program.

 

 

Location:  Millersville PA is located in South Central Pennsylvania just west of Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

 

Trail:  The trail takes you through some of the scenic housing areas and past the historic buildings of Millersville University, one of the first Pennsylvania Normal Schools, established in 1859. It is now one of the fourteen universities of the State System of Higher Education. Also featured are the Crossgates Housing development and Golf Course, the revamped Penn Manor High School and the Park at Millersville.

 

Registration Point:  George Street Cafe, 304 N George St, Millersville PA 17551. Phone them at 717-872-0800.

 

Starting Dates and Times:  The George Stree Cafe is open 6:30 Am til 9:30 PM Monday thru Friday and 8:00 Am til 2:00 Saturday & Sunday.

 

Award and Fees:  This is a CREDIT ONLY event. IVV Credit only is $3.00. You may participate in this event for free although donations are appreciated.

 

Procedures:  There is no pre-registration. Register on the day that you wish to walk at the registration point. Ask for the Volksmarch (Walk) box at the front desk. Start cards, maps, and written directions are in the box. The start card must be mailed to receive credit for the walk. IVV event and Distance Books may be purchased.

General Information:  Water and restrooms are available at the Start Point. The Student Union building at the University (when the university is in session) has food and water available and is located just across the street from the Inn. Funk's Farm Market (when open) has fresh vegetables, food and drinks and Herr's Village Market (on the route) have all kinds of eats available. Local law requires that pets must be leashed and must be cleaned up after.

Directions

 

From Baltimore and York:  US 30 east from York toward Lancaster to Millersville exit, PA 741. At the top of the ramp, turn right and proceed 4 miles east on PA 741 to Millersville.

 

In Millersville, turn right on PA 999 (Mennoite Church intersection). Follow PA 999 (Manor St) to the intere\section of PA 999 and George St. Turn left on George St and follow George St to the interection of Cottage Avenue (traffic light at intersection). Cafe is located on the left (E).

 

From Harrisburg and North:  PA 283 South to Pa 741. Turn right and go 5 1/2 miles east on PA 741 to Millersville and follow In Millersville directions above.

 

From the East and the Northeast:  PA Turnpike West to Exit 21 (Reading/Lancaster). Take US 222 South to US 30 just of Lancaster. Go west on US 30 around Lancaster to the Millersville exit PA 741 and follow In Millersville the above directions.

 

From Philadelphia:  Take US 30 west around Lancaster to Millersville exit, PA 741. At the top of the ramp turn left and proceed 4 miles east on PA 741 to Millersville and follow the In Millersville directions above.
