•  Lakeview trail through the Waterfowl Area is open through September 19, 2010. Trail would be hard for strollers. It is on paved and forest roads around the lake.

This event qualifies for the Museum Walk America Special Walking Program

 

 

Location:  Visit one of the Pennsylvania's best kept secrets ...and its most scenic - The Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, in Kleinfeltersville, PA in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. Waterfowl abounds. Seeing is believing! The walking season may be shortened due to waterfowl migration and propagation.

 

Note:  Participants who wish IVV Credit for both events must register twice and pay separate fees.

 

Start/Finish:  The Visitor Center at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, 100 Museum Rd, Stevens PA  - (717) 733-1512

 

Starting Times:  Register for events Tuesday - Saturday from 8 Am to 4 PM and Sunday from noon to 4 PM. Complete the events by 4 PM. The Visitors Center is CLOSED on Mondays and all Holidays. Call for hours if you have questions (717) 733-1512.

 

Award:  These are CREDIT ONLY events. Some "B" awards patches are available for purchase by all participants.

 

Fees:  IVV Credit Only - $3.00. You may participate in all events FREE if you choose.

 

Procedures:  There is no pre-registration. Register on the day you wish to walk at the Visitor Center. Ask for the Volksmarch Box. Start cards, maps and written directions are in the box. The Start Card must be turned in at the finish. If you wish to start before the published start time, register the day before. IVV Event and Distance Books may be purchased.

 

General Information:  Water and restrooms are available at the Visitor Center. Littering and picking the vegetation along the route is forbidden. No pets allowed.

Directions:

 

From Baltimore and South: I-83 N to PA Turnpike. East to old Exit 20 (Lebanon/Lancaster). Left on PA 72 North/ 1/7 miles to US-322 East. 8 Miles to PA-501 at Brickerville. ** Left on PA-501 North, 5.8 miles to PA-897 at Schaefferstown. Right on PA-897 South and 2.5 miles to Kleinfeltersville. Right on Hopeland Road. 2.5 miles to Middle Creek Visitors Center. Right on Museum Road to parking lot.

 

From Harrisburg and West:  PA Turnpike East to old Exit 20 (Lebanon/Lancaster) or US-322 East to Brickerville. Then proceed as above. **

 

From the North: I-78 W to the Bethel Exit, PA-501. South on PA-501 for 14 miles to Schaefferstown. Left on PA 897 South and proceed as above. **

 

From the East:  PA Turnpike West to old Exit 20 (Lebanon/Lancaster) or US-322 West to Brickerville. Then proceed as above. **
