LITITZ NORTH YEAR ROUND VOLKSMARCH

This event qualifies as a Railroad Heritage, Firehouses, Historic Churches, Museum Walk America, Authors & Literary Landmarks Special Walking Program event.

 

Location:  Lititz is located in South Central Pennsylvania in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

 

The Walks:Stroll the quiet, shaded streets of this historic Moravian Community. The History Walk visits historic Main Street, the Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, The Wilbur Chocolate Factory and Store, Lititz Springs Park and Moravian Square with it's pre-colonial church and America's oldest girl's boarding school, Linden Hall. The New North Walk features residential areas, the Warwick Township Lineal Park, historic Main Street, the Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, The Wilbur Chocolate Factory and Store, Lititz Springs Park and Moravian Square with it's pre-colonial church and America's oldest girl's boarding school, Linden Hall.

A treat any time of yer, Lititz outshines itself during the holiday season as festive sidewalks and streets are lit by the beloved Moravian Stars. The trail is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

Dates & Times:  Events are open daily except Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Christmas Day . The Lititz Community Center is open Mon. Thru Fri. 6 AM - 5 PM; Sat. 8 AM - 5 PM; Sun.  1 PM - 5 PM

 

Award:  These are CREDIT ONLY events, but there is a 4" full-color Event Patch, which may bee purchased by all participants.

 

Fees:  IVV Credit Only - $3.00. Event Patch - $4.00. You may participate in all events FREE.

 

Procedures:  There is no pre-registration. Register on the day you wish to walk at the Registration Point. Ask for the Volksmarch Box. Start Cards, maps and written directions are in the box. The start card must be turned in at the finish. If you wish to start before the Community Center opnes you may register the day before. IVV Event and Distance Books may be purchased.

General Information:  Water and restrooms are available at the Start Point. Other refreshments may be available at public estaablishments along the route. We recommend that you carry water. Littering and picking vegetation along the route is forbidden. Local law requires that all pets are leashed and must be cleaned-up after. Pets are not permitted on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College. See trail brochure for an alternate route.

Directions

 

From South and West - York, Baltimore, DC:  US30 east from York to Lancaster. Exit at Lititz Pike, PA501 North. Proceed north on PA501 for 6 miles. Enter Lititz on South Broad Street and proceed to W Orange and turn left. Turn right onto Walnut then left onto Maple and proceed to the community center.

 

From the East - Philadelphia:  US30 west to Lancaster to the Lititz Pike exit, PA501 North. Follow the directions above.

 

From PA Turnpike:  Take Exit 20 (Lebanon-Lancaster). Turn left and go north on PA72 a short distance to US322. Go east on US322 to PA 501 at Brickerville. Turn right at the traffic light and go south 6 miles. Enter Lititz on North Broad Street and proceed to W Orange and turn left. Turn right onto Walnut then left onto Maple and proceed to the community center.
