Lancaster West Walk - This walk includes Wheatland (home of President James Buchannan),
Conestoga House and the campuses of Franklin & Marshall College and the Lancaster
Theological Seminary. On paved residential and college streets and sidewalks, suitable
for strollers. The walk begins at the Registration Point.
The West walk qualifies for the Lincoln Highway Special Walking Program.
Lancaster Downtown Historic Walk

Lancaster Downtown Walk - Revisit Lancaster City on the (N)orth (E)ast & (W)est 11K
walk on city sidewalks, passing schools, churches, hospitals, the renovated railroad
station, several city parks, and the historic down-town area, including the County
Court House, Farmers Market and the Fulton Opera House. The walk begins at the registration
point.
The Historic walk for the Lincoln Highway, American Baseball Walks, Classic
Movie Theater Cinemas, Main Street, and Murals Special Walking Programs.
Location: Lancaster, PA is located in South Central Pennsylvania in the heart of
Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
Start Location: Volunteer Center, Lancaster Regional Medical Center (formerly St.
Joseph's Hospital), 250 College Avenue, Lancaster, PA
Starting Times: Daily 8:00 am to 2 PM. Finish by 5:00 PM.
Award: There are CREDIT ONLY events, but there is a 4" full-color Event Patch, which
may be purchased by all participants.
Fees: IVV Credit Only - $3.00. Event Patch - $4.00. You may participate in all events
FREE.
Procedures: There is no pre-registration. Register on the day you wish to walk at
the Registration Point. Enter the hospital from Walnut Street. Immediately turn right
and then right again into the Volunteer Center. Ask for the Volksmarch Box. Start
Cards, maps and written directions are in the box. The start card must be turned
in at the finish. IVV Event and Distance Books may be purchased.

theft or material damage. Every reasonable effort will be made by the sponsors to
make this a safe, enjoyable and memorable event.
General Information: Water and restrooms are available at the Start Point. Other
refreshments may be available at public establishments along the route. We recommend
that you carry water. Littering and picking vegetation along the route is forbidden.
Local law requires that all pets are leashed and must be cleaned-up after. Pets are
not permitted on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College. See trail brochure for
an alternate route.

Directions
From Baltimore and South: I-83 North to Exit 9 (York). Take US-30 East to the Harrisburg
Pike Exit. Turn right at the top of the ramp and proceed into Lancaster on Harrisburg
Avenue. At the 9th traffic light after exiting US-30, turn right onto College Avenue,
passing Franklin & Marshall College to the second traffic light. Three hour parking
is permitted on streets surrounding the hospital.
From Harrisburg and North: PA-283 East to US-30 just to the west of Lancaster. Follow
US-30 West to the Harrisburg Pike Exit, turn left at the top of the ramp and follow
directions above.
From Philadelphia and the Northeast: PA Turnpike West to Exit 21 (Reading/Lancaster).
Follow US-30 West to the Harrisburg Pike exit, turn left at the top of the ramp and
follow directions above.
From the Southeast: Take US-30 West around Lancaster to the Harrisburg Pike exit,
turn left at the top of the ramp and follow directions above.
