Who Are We? |
|
Princeton Area Walkers (PAW) is the largest AVA walking club in New Jersey. We have been part of the American Volkssport Association since (AVA.org) 1993 and are members of the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) with clubs worldwide. Our 10km (6.2 mile) walks are non-competitive, done at your own pace with our club members, your friends or family, alone or with a favorite pet. Our trails are selected for safety, scenic interest, historic value, natural beauty and accessibility. Our $10 yearly membership dues make our beautiful trails possible. We welcome you to join us particularly if you appreciate the joys of walking, fun and fellowship. |

In Remembrance
| Teri Morosco | Ernie Wykes |
|
Our fellow PAWs walker, Lighthouse Program
Coordinator and past MSW and PAWs Treasurer, TERI MOROSCO, died on
September 7, 2009. She and her husband Vic were at our PAWs picnic
just two weeks earlier (see photo of Teri, middle, with Joanie O’Connor
and Maureen Penta) and none of us knew she was silently battling cancer.
Teri enjoyed walking here in NJ, at her place in FL and even the Inside
Passages of Alaska. A child study team member by day, she would
have retired on October 1, 2009 and she planned to tend to her new
grandchildren. Teri was always an even-keel person and the voice
of reason. She organized our Keyport Event and our treks to Vic’s
plays in Sayreville. As Vic said during his eulogy, “In the end,
Teri was the best actress of all.” We will miss her.

Ernie, a member of the Liberty Bell Wanderers, died
on October 30, 2009. Ernie was always at our many PAWs Events and
did the Thursday NJ/PA YREs with his fellow Wanderers. He battled
cancer over the years and yet he also kept walking with his buddies Gene
Maier and Dave Berry. In 2000, Ernie and Mary from LBW ventured to the
120 km Rundwanderweg in Seefeld, Austria, with PAWs walkers Dave Scull,
Charlie Kaiser, Bob Raue, Candie Gordon and Donna Coulson. And we ran
into Gene, Ernie and Ron Nelson at Crazy Horse, SD in 1998. Ernie
was an easy-going traveler and enjoyed the places walking took him.
We will miss Ernie’s presence and send our sympathies to his daughter
Alissa. |
