A.  Walk must be a sanctioned AVA or CVF/FVC walk that passes within sight of or through a covered bridge. Any participant that participates in and pays the regular AVA or CVF/FCV event fee is eligible to record the walk in their Historic Covered Bridge book.

B.  A Covered Bridge is defined as an authentic structure originally constructed for motorized vehicular traffic or two-legged or four-legged traffic. Not included are ornamental structures found in backyards, playgrounds, miniature golf courses, etc or covered pedestrian walkways. Bridges that have been relocated from their original site to park locations qualify. Replicas of bridges will be approved if they accurately represent the construction of authentic bridges.

C.  Only bridges in the United States and Canada may be listed for inclusion in the program.

D.  Clubs must register qualified bridges and the walk sanction number with the AVA or CVF for inclusion in the program.

E.  Each covered bridge may only be stamped once. Twelve (12) different covered bridges are required to receive the award

F.  If an event includes 2, or more bridges, a stamp may be awarded for each bridge provided the event is walked a separate time for each stamp.

G.  The IVV stamp must be used to record each completed bridge walk. Handwritten entries are not allowed. This program is not retroactive. All events must be walked (or biked, if a bike event) after you register for the program. Insert cards may be used if you have forgotten your record book, however at least one event must be recorded in your record book.

H.  For each event, record the IVV stamp and write in the date, location (closest town, state) and bridge name (if a named bridge) and date built (if available).

I.  The award for completing the program is a 3 1/2" x 5" embroidered patch. The patch depicts the Haupt's Mill Bridge built in 1872. A covered bridge from Bucks County PA that was destroyed by an arson fire in 1985 and was never rebuilt..

J.  The Covered Bridge Program is planned to run from January 1, 2007 until December 31, 2011.
