Keystone State Volkssport Association

WHAT ARE AWARDS AND CREDIT?
One of the most enjoyable aspects of volkssporting is that everyone is a winner and everyone can be rewarded in some way. Anyone who registers is a participant choosing to walk free of charge, for credit or for the award and credit.
The free participants benefit from having a specific trail to follow and conversation along the way.
Those who select the credit or award/credit option become participants in the AVA's event and/or distance record keeping system. The AVA provides record books that can be purchased at events which allow volkssporters to keep track of the number of events completed as well as the total kilometers achieved. Participants can choose to maintain both event and distance books or choose just one. When the event is completed and the start card returned, the club members at the finish point will stamp the record book(s). There is a modest charge to receive credit for the event
When a book is filled, it may be sent to the AVA's national office and the participant will receive a patch, pin and certificate indicating the level of achievement..
Most clubs also have a commemorative award for each event. Usually the award will be a medal, patch, hat pin, plate, mug, etc. Those who wish to receive the award will pay a slightly higher fee (which includes the charge for credit), usually $6-$8. In addition, there are often patches, T-shirts, sweatshirts and other items for sale. AVA Record Books are also available for sale.
