Norfolk Botanical Garden

05 Km/10 Km Walk (2008-Y0792)

Start Location: Baker Hall Visitor Center, Norfolk Botanical Garden 6700, Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, VA 23518 (757) 441-5830

Start / Finish Times: Baker Hall is open 9AM till 5PM. In order to register, you must arrive at Baker Hall before 5PM. Between April 15 and October 15, you may walk in the garden until 7PM. At all other times, you must finish by 5PM. The garden is usually open every day, but may sometimes close for special events.  Baker Hall is closed New Years, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Special Classifications: Authors and Literary Landmarks, US Presidents, and Walk the USA, A-Z.

Note: Pets are not permitted in the Norfolk Botanical Garden.

Fees: There is a fee to enter Norfolk Botanical Garden. At this time the fee is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors (62 and over). There is no fee to walk the trail. This is a credit only event. The fee for IVV credit will be $3. B Awards maybe available.

Facilities: There are restrooms and water available at the start/finish point. Food, drink, and restrooms are available at various establishments along the route.

Course Description: The trail is rated 1. The route includes paved paths, unpaved nature trails in the gardens. Strollers and wagons should have little difficulty with this route. Wheelchairs may need to bypass some of the nature trails.

Highlights: Surrounded by Lake Whitehurst, the Norfolk Botanical Garden includes over 150 acres of natural and classical landscapes offering changing vistas throughout the year. The Garden is home to a large, diverse collection of azaleas, camellias and rhododendrons. Over 90 species of birds, including nesting American Eagles, have been sighted at the Norfolk Botanical Garden.

Directions: From I-64, take Exit 279 (Norview Avenue East) toward Norfolk International Airport. After 0.9 miles, turn left at the light at Azalea Garden Road. Entrance to the Garden is on the right after 0.6 miles. The Walk Box is at the Information Desk at Baker Hall Visitor Center.
