Fees: There is no fee to walk the trail. This is a credit only event. The fee for IVV credit will be $3. B Awards maybe available.
Facilities: There are restrooms and water available at the start/finish point and at the Visitor’s Center at the park. The Visitor’s Center is closed from Thanksgiving until the first week of April. Food and drink are available at the hotel’s restaurant and deli, and at several nearby restaurants.
Course Description: The trail is rated 1. The route starts on city sidewalks and continues onto a paved multi-use trail, then to natural surface trails. There is a 1.5-mile stretch of soft dirt trail plus a few uphill climbs. An option includes a walk on a sandy beach. The first portion of the walk is suitable for strollers and handicapped participants.
Highlights: From sandy beaches to cypress swamps, this walk explores a popular natural scenic area of the resort city. There are many other trails in the State Park you may wish to explore. A map and information is available at the Visitor’s Center.
Directions: From I-64, take Exit 282 - Route 13 (Northampton Blvd.) north toward the Bay Bridge Tunnel. Take the last exit from Route 13, which is Route 60 (Shore Drive). Go right on Shore Drive for 3 1/2 miles. The Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center is located on the left side of Shore Drive, at the intersection with Great Neck Road. Turn left into the hotel’s parking lot at the stop light.
