History
Highlights:
The
Feeder canal was completed in 1832. It
fed a constant source of water to the high point
of the nearby Champlain
Canal
which connected Lake Champlain
to the Hudson
River. The
lumber from the Adirondack
forests would make their way to the city markets.
Glens Falls
history dates back to the French and Indian War of 1754 - 63. Place
of
rendezvous for the convoys
bringing supplies between Fort William
Henry
in Lake George and Fort
Edward. The
native Americans called the area
“Chapontuc” meaning difficult place to get
around”.
