A AWARDS: is a 4.25” x 3.5” patch depicting Connecticut’s state capital, a “High Victorian Gothic” style building designed in 1874 on former site of Trinity College.

This event counts toward the acquisition of IVV achievement awards. A limited supply of distance and event books will be available for $5 each. One (1) event credit may be earned for completing this event. Distance Credit may be earned each time the walk is completd. The event stamp is to be used in IVV books only.
TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS: Two trails to choose from for the same event credit: The Downtown / Riverfront Walk includes the Old State House (designed by Charles Bullfinch in 1796), the unique gothic revival state capitol as well as the Wadsworth Atheneum (one of the oldest art museums in the country; its annual Festival of Trees is held in early December), and two bridges over the Connecticut River. The Park Walk includes the State Capitol as well as the 19th century homes of authors Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe (Mark Twain Days in mid July), the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden, the Bushnel Park Carousel and the Civil War Memorial Arch. Walk passes by UCONN Law School, Hartford College for Women, and Hartford Conservatory.
TRAIL RATING: 1+, suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.
START POINT LOCATION & HOURS: HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS, 440 Asylum St., Hartford, CT 06103. Tel.: (860) 246-9900. Hours: daily, dawn to dusk. Water available
DIRECTIONS:
- From I-84 take exit 48. At end of ramp westbound turn left, eastbound turn right. Inn is on left, 1 block past railroad overpass, across from State Capitol.
- From I-95S or I-95N:Take I-84W (Waterbury), Exit 32A. Follow directions for I-84W.

PARKING: Pay parking lot is behind Inn (across street from bus station). Street parking on weekends at no charge (meters are not checked).
PETS: Must be leashed!
