TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS: Wethersfield includes 116 homes built before 1840, with a few dating back to the 17th century, plus a lovely cove off the Connecticut River, where a warehouse from the 1600s still stands. A picturesque cemetery with Native American mounds and graves is located at the center of town and the trail passes by an old railroad station, now housing the Narcissus Chocolate Café. Historical museums are located at the Webb-Deane-Stevens homes (site of an important meeting between George Washington and Rochambeau, leading to the conclusion of the Revolutionary War at Yorktown) on Main St. and at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center.

START POINT LOCATION & HOURS: Tim Hortons, 486 Silas Deane Hwy. (Rt. 99) (corner of Rt. 99 and Church St.). Tel.: 860-529-6577. Hours: Daily, dawn to dusk. Water and snacks are available.
DIRECTIONS: FROM THE NORTH: Follow I-91 to exit 24. At end of ramp, turn left onto Rte. 99 (Silas Deane Highway) for about a block. Ramada Inn is on the right. FROM THE SOUTH: Follow I-91 to exit 24. At end of ramp, turn right onto Rte. 99, go under the highway and past the Texaco station. Ramada Inn is on the right.
