Old Business:

Upcoming Walks:

  • Post Rose Parade - June 13 – The Pose Rose Parade walk is ready for walkers.  We had to change the maps slightly to accommodate the construction and security fences that blocked a portion of both the 10K and 5K routes.  Paid start cards will have the opportunity to view the floats up close and personal.  The check point is set up at the float entrance.
  • Gorge Events – Final instructions and information. The T-shirts, hat pins, and patches are finished and ready for sales.  Dick Koonce gave an explanation of the procedures and what to expect during the Gorge events.  The Char Burger-Sam Hill Room, is reserved for 50 people on Thursday evening between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Another reminder that cars need to be off Robin’s Island at 5:00 pm every day or they will be locked in at night.

We will have dinner tickets this year for 120 people.

We will offer our $2.00 lunches which include; Polish dog, chips, pop, cookies.

Vendors:  Walking Adventures, Liz Mitchell’s Volksware, CRVC Sales Table, New Balance, and Margaret Forsters Specialty Sales Table.

Daryl Pulley will bring 2 extra bikes for those that want to do the bike and did not bring one.

New Business:

  • October 2, The Dalles Walk Event in conjunction with  Historic Days Weekend. Val Tenny is working on the walk route.

Walking Adventures will be in The Dalles on October 3 to do Lewis & Clark then on October 5, they will do the Crown Jewel Walk – join them if you like.

  • October 30, Halloween Walk – Frankie Schuster is checking out the school or Foot Traffic as a start point for this walk.
  • Position Filled for Newsletter Editor – Moya Lehman has volunteered to fulfill this position.  Thank you Moya and congratulations.
  • May need new location for Christmas Boat Walk – We have checked out the Spaghetti Factory but there’s a lot of construction in the area and may not be a good place to start a walk.  We have other options such as, Alper’s Mill, Lloyd Center, Dever’s Eye Clinic, etc.
  • Not using the Web for publishing walk instructions and maps – We shall not post walk instructions and maps on the web.  We will post directions to the walks
  • Changes to current seasonals or YREs – If there are any changes, please let Joe Kelly or Eric Glosenger know of them very soon.
  • A motion was made to have CRVC put on a walk in Yachets on Cape Mountain, Daryl Pulley moved that we only walk Yachets, Dan Cramer seconded. Motion carried.
  • Use of GNC for start points and check points. Discounts are available to volkswalkers.
  • 10 Walk YRE club limitations are still effect.

Other Business:

Sam Korff is President of OTSVA and Turn Around Trekkers.  The mission of OTSVA is to help clubs with administration and to have fun.  We have steering committees for Publicity, Publications, Events and Awards, the Walk Oregon Challenge and provide help for State organizations. We give the Eager Beaver Award and the Oregon Flame Award.

AVA limits the awards given to The Hall of Fame, 3 Meritorious and 3 Distinguished Awards.  Sam is trying to change the limit of awards given.

Next year, we will have to provide 2 copies each of Directions, map and a sample brochure to Curt Myron.
