About
the walk
PARKVILLE 8 KM
First, English Landing Park, with its linear trail along
the Missouri River, is closed due to extensive flooding. The trail is scheduled to reopen in late
spring, 2012. This trail will be
included in the Parkville walk once it has opened for public use.
The newly revised Parkville walk, an 8 KM route,
contains some substantial hills.
Walkers, as they climb the hill, will see some unique housing. These houses were designed to fit into
their wooded settings. There are
lots of beautiful trees, and even though there are a number of houses, one
has the sense of being in the woods.
After leaving the Bluff Area, walkers will pass a small
city park and then enter the Parkville Nature Sanctuary. Walkers may see deer, turkeys, or other
types of birds and wildlife. The big
attraction in this area is the waterfalls, the largest, and perhaps the
only, waterfalls in Platte County.
After leaving the Parkville Nature Sanctuary, walkers
will have some great views of the historic Park University. The walk ends with a trip down Main
Street in Old Town, Parkville, a quaint little river town.

Operation:
