Trackers' Talk
March/April, 2010
Phyllis Gall, Editor

We have lots of walking activities scheduled for the next few months so print out this Calendar of Events. The weather hasn’t been cooperating with our walking plans, but I hope to see you out on the trails this next month.  Our Wednesday morning group is still meeting at Metro North parking lot.  We are going to change the meeting time to noon for a month and see if the weather will be better for walking outside.  Check out our schedule below.  Also, Missy McBride has been leading some weekend walks and notifying members by e-mail.  I have listed them below.

We are always open to suggestions to make our club better.  Don’t hesitate to let some of us know if you have ideas.

We will have a speaker at our March 16th club meeting at the Gashland Presbyterian Church on N. Oak.  Her name is Teresa Dodd from my church and she will give a Power Point presentation on healthy eating.  The program will start promptly at 7 pm.

Our first 2010 Event will be May 1st starting at the Crown Center Shopping Food Court.  Parking is free in the covered garage on weekends.  You may start walking between 9 am and 11 am, must finish walking by 2 pm.  You will walk around the beautifully restored Union Hill area and through Union Cemetery.  This is all a historic area that you could easily spend the whole day sightseeing.  I hope you will tell your friends about this great walking event.  At the March meeting, Mary will be asking for volunteers to sign up to help out that day.

If you are thinking about getting all 50 states, Terri Tyler from Topeka is planning an “Alaska Adventure Volkssport Trip July 24 to August 8.  Details are available upon request.

Thanks to Missy, there was a group of 16 Clay-Platte Trackers that attended the Des Moines Skywalk on February 13.  It was unique as you could walk a 5K all inside and another 5K outside.
