Trail: This walk includes world famous Civil Rights sites, cross the Alabama River on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, magnificent ante- and post-bellum homes and businesses, and Live Oak Cemetery's Civil War graves. The Walk is on paved sidewalks, many shaded by ancient trees.

American Authors & Literary Landmarks: past locations in "Alabama, One Big Front Porch" and other books by Kathryn Windham Tucker, known as "Alabama's Storyteller"
Civil War: the Confederate Naval Ordnance Works, civil war graves in the cemetery and the home of Abraham Lincoln's sister-in-law.
Railroad Heritage Walk Program the Old L&N Depot
RiverWalk: Alabama River,
Spirit of Walking Cemetery Stroll : Old Live Oak Cemetery,
and Walk the USA, A-Z Program : the letter "S".

Rated 1 (easy). Suitable for strollers, but difficult for wheelchairs due to curbs.

Start Time: Daily, between dawn till dusk.

Start Location: St. James Hotel, 1200 Water Ave, Selma, AL 36703. Tel. (334)872-3234

Directions: From Birmingham: Take I-65 south to exit #212 (Clanton). Take AL145 south to AL22 west to Selma. Stay on AL22 to the last traffic light before Edmund Pettus Bridge. Turn left on Water St; one block to the hotel.
From Montgomery: Take I-65 to exit #167. Take US80 west to Selma. At 1st traffic light after crossing Edmund Pettus Bridge, turn right on Water St.; one block to hotel.
From I-59/20: Take exit #1 (Cuba, AL). Take US80 to Selma. Follow Broad St. through twon to last traffic light before the bridge, turning left on Water St.; one block to the hotel.
