Trail: A walk through historic downtown Montgomery. The trail goes along the Alabama River for a short distance, then traverses city streets and a series of cemeteries. You will see the old Union Train Station, walk near the Hank Williams Museum, the First Confederate White House, the State Capital, the Freedom Memorial, several antebellum buildings, Dexter Avenue Church where Martin Luther King held services and a few new buildings in the center of town. The Trail is primarily on paved streets and sidewalks with some hills.

Hours: Daily, dawn to dusk.

Distance: 11 km

Rating: 2 (easy to moderate) and is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers if they can negotiate curbs. There are several hills. It is advisable to carry water during the hot summer months.

Directions to start location:
Traveling South on I-65 Exit at Downtown- Clay Street (exit 172). After first traffic light turn left on Herron St. Cross the Interstate Bridge. Go five blocks to Molton St. Turn left on Molton. Turn right on Tallapoosa St.
Traveling north on I-65 Exit Herron St (exit 172); Turn right (east), go five blocks to Molton St. Turn left on Molton. Embassy Suites is almost directly in front of you. Turn right on Tallapoosa St. Click for Map

Please park in the lot in the rear of the hotel. Start Box is in the lobby - assk attendant.
