Trail: A walk through historic downtown Birmingham, including Old Morris Ave, the first cobblestone street in the city and the Civil Rights Museum and Park. No pets are allowed. The trail is on concrete, asphalt and cobblestone.

IMPORTANT:  For special occasions, the City of Birmingham closes off large portions of downtown and a fee must be paid to enter those areas.  If you are not interested in the special events, we recommend that you avoid doing the walk at these times, as additional monies will have to be paid.  (Of course, if you are interested, these are excellent times to do the walk.)

Known events to be aware of:

City Stages, a weekend of music on June 13-15, 2008,
Most all of the streets in downtown Birmingham, AL will be closed for City Stages, a musical festival.  Naturally, you may pay and attend this great festival, but if you only want to walk, you might want to choose our Southside YREs, Historic Southside or University of Alabama Birmingham.
