Trail: University of Alabama Trail (YR493) goes through the Five Points South to the University. The trail is on concrete, stone, asphalt and some gravel.

Southside Birmingham Trail (last year's YR494 will be offered as an alternative route this year for YR493) goes through historic Forest Park and picturesque Higland Avenue. The walk also includes Cobb Lane, Five Points South, the Lakeview District and the Work/Play Enterainment Complex. The trail is on concrete, stone and asphalt.

Distance: A choice of 5km and 10 km trails.

Hours: Daily, dawn to dusk.

Rating: 2+ (moderate).

Start Location: Tom & Jerry's Chevron Food Mart at 2188 Highland Avenue South, Birmingham, AL. Phone 205-939-1310. The Walk Box will be in the window to the right when you enter the store.

Directions to start location:
Traveling north on I-65, take exit 259. Right on University Blvd. Right on 22nd St. South. Right on Highland Avenue. Food Mart is on right. Click for Map

Parking: DO NOT PARK IN THE FOOD MART LOT. Space is very limited. Past the Food Mart to the right is on-the-street parking. There is also limited space in the Alamerica Bank parking lot next door during the week. Please inform the bank you are parked there to avoid towing (approved by Artherine Curry). Saturday and Sunday the bank parking lot may be used.
