TRAIL DESCRIPTION

The trail begins and ends at the Centennial Trailhead on the east side of Hwy 87.  It is .7 miles north of junction with Hwy 385.  A mildly strenuous walk encounters several prairie dog towns, traverses Lookout Point and follows a valley between high cliffs with a rolling stream.

EVENT INFORMATION

Imagine walking through scenery similar to that seen by Black Hills pioneers during the 1890's.  The best examples of a mixed-grass prairie combined with a ponderosa pine forest and riparian habitat.  Walk qualifies for National Parks Heritage Walks Patch.

DIRECTIONS

From Hot Springs take Hwy 385 north to the Wind Cave National Park.  From Custer take Hwy 385 south to Pringle and then on into the Wind Cave National Park.  Once inside the Park, go to the Visitor Center.  The registration box is located at the Black Hills Park & Forest Association Book Store inside the Visitor Center.
