TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Walk follows portions of the Centennial Trail and Gravel Roads in the Nemo area.  The 5K may be suitable for back-country strollers, however, on the 10K strollers would not be recommended.

EVENT INFORMATION

This event is open to everyone.  Water will be available at the Start point, both before & after the walk and at one of the checkpoints along the trail.  If it is a hot day, walkers are encouraged to carry a canteen/water bottle if possible.  Smoking is not allowed and all walkers should stay on the trail and be considerate of other users.

Altitide is 4700 feet and there is a campground located in Nemo and another one located 3 miles on Forest Service Road 140 (Boxelder Forks Campground).  Either campground supports RV's or tents.

DIRECTIONS

From Rapid City, from the street light at hiway 79 & west Chicago street, go west on west Chicago street to S. Canyon Road(1.3 miles).  Bear to the right on S. Canyon Road to CR-234 road which becomes the Nemo Road.  Go 10 miles to Nemo.  In Nemo, take Forest Rt. 140 west for 3 tenths of a mile to the First Centennial Trail Head on your left.  There will also be Volksmarch signs at the Nemo road intersection.

Event and distance books will be available for purchase for $5.00 each at the Start/Finish.  This event counts towards the acquisition of IVV achievement awards.  New walker program packets will also be available for $5.00 each.
