TRAIL DESCRIPTION

The walk begins at the Kirk Trailhead of the George S. Mickelson Trail. Enjoy a peaceful walk on this portion of the 114 mile Rails-to-Trails program masterpiece.

EVENT INFORMATION

Carrying water is recommended. All trail users age 12 and older are required to have a trail pass on the walk. 10% room discount at Golden Hills Resort for volkssporters, per Grant Mason.

DIRECTIONS

From Rapid City, take I-90 to Sturgis, then Boulder Canyon Hwy 85 to Deadwood. Go south out of Deadwood on Hwy 85 for 5 miles to Lead, through downtown, up to Miners Ave. There is a stop light at this intersection. At the intersection, the hotel will be on your right. Other routes include Hwy 44, west out of Rapid City to Hwy 385, then north on Hwy 385 for 24 miles to the intersection of Hwy 85. Turn left at this point and drive to Lead following Hwy 85 through downtown Lead to Miners Ave. Hotel is on your right.
