TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Enjoy the beauty of the Mickelson Trail in the Black Hills.  The trail passes through many different types of terrain from a prairie setting, past granite hill views, to heavily timbered forest and picturesque valley bottoms.  Shelters with picnic table, restrooms and water are available at some of the trailheads but it is still important to carry water with you.

EVENT INFORMATION

This is a group ride on the Mickelson Trail from Deadwood TH in Deadwood to Mystic TH. Most of the trail has a 3% grade or less.  The surface of the trail is gravel.  This section of the Mickelson Trail is mostly uphill for the first 16 miles and downhill the rest of the way.  We will be passing the old Standby Mill, the area where George Custer shot a grizzly bear and great views of Homestake Gold, Wasp, and Bismarck mines. This is the third and final leg of three bike rides this year to bike the whole Mickelson Trail.  Bikers will be shuttled back from the finish to the start point.  Bikers will need to pay for a Mickelson Trail pass.  There is a $3 daily fee for trail use. Bikers must preregister prior to the event by contacting POC.  We are only able to haul up to 30 bikes.
