TRAIL DESCRIPTION |
A
fantastic day hike on a groomed single and 2 track path, utilizing a small
portion of the Mickelson Trail, the Deerfield Trail and a few other off
shoots. You’ll go thru a tunnel,
journey thru a canyon, pass a few old mining sites and even cross Slate
Creek several times (creek levels were good at publication time but flip
flops or Crocs are a recommended carry along).
There are up hills and down hills but this walk offers what is best

EVENT INFORMATION |
Food
is planned after the event. Bring an extra pair of dry socks, sandals,
flip flops or Crocs along because of stream crossings. Walking sticks
might be helpful. Bring along a camera to capture the moment. |

DIRECTIONS |
Hill City is located on Hwy 385/16. Take Mt. Rushmore Road from Rapid City. From Hot Springs and Custer take 385 north. Take Deerfield Lake Road in Hill City until it branches to the left, stay to the right on CR 231 to Daugherty Gulch TH (gravel road). Look for signs. |
