TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS:
This walk has been a favorite of volksmarchers since 1988. On the course, you will pass all of West Point's historic monuments, cadet barracks, chapels and take in views of the Hudson River valley and the mountains above. Come here for a scenic, safe, and traffic free walk. The course is all on sidewalks with some gravel in The West Point Cemetery.

START POINT LOCATION & HOURS:
USMA Visitors Center
located on West Point Highway, just south of the Thayer Gate entrance to West Point, in Highland Falls, NY.
The Visitors Center is open daily, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Call (845) 938-2638 for information. No walking before dawn or after dusk. Trails may be closed due to ice and snow. The

FROM THE NEW YORK CITY AREA: I-87 and I-287 to Tappan Zee Bridge and I-87 (New York State Thruway). Over bridge, take exit 13N onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway heading north. Continue on the Parkway as below.

FROM NEW JERSEY: Garden State Parkway north to the end and follow signs for the New York State Thruway (I-87) east. Exit Thruway at exit 13N onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway heading north. Follow signs for Route 9W north (3d exit off traffic circle). Exit 9W via West Point-Highland Falls exit (NY rt. 218) Follow signs to Visitors Center.

FROM THE NORTH: NY State Thruway to Exit 17 Newburgh. I-84 East to exit 10S. 9W South. Follow signs to Visitors Center.

FROM SOUTHERN TIER NEW YORK, SCRANTON, PA., AND CONNECTICUT: I-84 to Exit 10S. 9W South over Storm King Mountain. Follow signs to Visitors Center.
PARKING: At the Visitors Center.
PETS: Leashed pets are permitted, but not allowed in buildings. It is suggested that you bring water for your pets.
