General Walk Information
The walks are typically 10 km (6.2 mi.) and may include historic sites, downtown areas, woodland trails, parks and other points of interest. Our club does not charge a fee to participate. For those interested, a small fee ($4.00) provides for recorded credit and a "B" Award (e.g., a medal, patch, pin, magnet) at the completion of the event.
ELIGIBILITY:These events are non-competitive walks, sponsored by the Volkssport Club of West Point. They are open to everyone and are free if you do not want IVV credit. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets must be leashed and are not permitted in buildings.
REGISTRATION-TRADITIONAL WALK: Register for a walk at the walk Start Point. All participants must: sign the liability waiver and carry a walk card. (walk cards must be returned at the completion of the walk.)
REGISTRATION-YEAR-ROUND WALK: Register for a walk by following the instructions in the "walk box" at the walk Start Point. All participants must: fill out the log book, sign the liability waiver and carry a walk card. (walk cards must be returned at the completion of the walk.)

IVV CREDIT: The walks described in this brochure count toward the acquisition of IVV (Internationaler Volkssport Verband) achievement awards. IVV credit books can be purchased at weekend group walks and traditional events. You can earn an IVV event credit in your Event Record Book once during the period from Jan. 1 to June 30, and once more from July 1 to Dec. 31. You may receive credit in the Distance Record Book each time you complete a walk.
We will try to have IVV books, "New Walker Kits" and insert pages in the Start Box, but...you are reminded to please bring your IVV books with you.
FEES: Everyone is welcome to participate in these events.

Just Walk Free
You may walk the trail for credit a second time on the same day at no atdditional charge.

TRAIL RATINGS: The walk descriptions on this page refer to the following AVA trail rating system:
- Easy walk on pavement or a well-maintained trail. Usually suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
- A moderately easy walk on some pavement or some woodland or open field trails. No significantly difficult hills. Possibly not suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
- A moderate walk in any setting with some difficult terrain, substantial hills and/or steps.
- A more difficult walk. Most likely settings with natural paths and steep or hilly inclines.
- A very difficult walk on rough terraine with steep hills and/or high altitude. Unsuitable for persons not in good health.
