Volkssport Club
of West Point met for a pre-walk breakfast on 14
October 2006.
Six members were present at the Park Restaurant, Highland Falls.
- Treasurer, Andrew Schmidt, was not present and there was no treasurer's
report.
- Tom Nisonger told the group about his recent trip to South Africa with Walking Adventures.
- Members present discussed event walks for 2007.
President, Joan
Kimmel, said the
feed back from the Hudson Valley Ramble walk in Cold Spring was very
positive. The Ramble organization would like for the club to hold the same
walk next year. As part of the walk, Scenic Hudson will provide a docent
at the West Point Foundry site as part of the walk..
- Joan will contact Sandy Gordon about a walk in
New WIndsor. This might include the Order of the
Purple Heart Museum which will open this fall, as well as the New Windsor
Cantonment.
- It was agreed that we will continue to have the
Nyack/street fair walk, Bear Mountain/Earth Day walk, Goshen/Girl
Scout/St. Patrick's Day walk, and Round Pond/ MWR Octoberfest
walk.
- The club will also continue to have monthly
walks of the YRE in Highland Falls, Cornwall, Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and West Point.
- At the conclusion of the meeting, three walkers
registered to join the club for the Highland Falls YRE. This was also the
Fall Festival street fair in the village.
