New York City Club Group Walk was Great!

Eight of our members and friends visited New York City in early June to walk as a group the Lower Manhattan YRE sponsored by the Princeton Area Walkers.  An interesting day, to say the least!   Turns out we weren’t alone in NYC that day – June 11th also happened to be the annual Puerto Rico Parade!   And besides us eight doing the YRE, over 80,000 other people marched in the parade and more than 2 million lined the parade route!   To say the city and train was crowded is a bit of an understatement!

Besides the walk in beautiful weather, we also had lunch at the South Street Seaport Museum, and some of us also ventured across and back over the Brooklyn Bridge as well.  Club member Judy Polczer, being a resident of NYC, delighted us with her tails of various city aspects as we did the walk.

We hope to repeat these group activities in the future, and would like to see more participation from the club membership – for those who missed it, you missed a great walk!  We submitted a photograph of the group in front of the South Street Seaport to The American Wanderer for possible publication later this year.

2007 AVA Convention Web Site now live!

Check out the website : http://www.2007avaconvention.org/ !  The AVA 2007 Convention, to be held in Sacramento, California in June 2007, is now ‘live’.!

Atlantic Region Calendar Attached!

Club President Joan Kimmel has provided the current version of the Atlantic Division Calendar in both a WORD format and an HTML format in case you can not read WORD documents.

Current Calendar!

These below are 'confirmed' times and dates!

We are sometime asked what a 'Group Walk' (as opposed to a Year Round Event (YRE) or Event) is - We credit our sister club in Albany, the ESCV (EMPIRE STATE CAPITAL VOLKSSPORTERS) for the following definition of GROUP walks: "Group Walk  means all meet and signup together at the same time,  get a map and start together, then you proceed at your own pace.  There are NO GUIDES for this kind of walk.. Nor does a group have to stay together. "; so when you see this term in our calendar below, you'll now know what it means!   We usually have fast walkers, slow walkers, and medium walkers,  there's almost always someone you can walk with if you join us for your first time in a GROUP WALK!

As always, changes from the previous month in
