  • Goshen Flyer Enclosed

Attached to this email is the flyer of our first event of 2006, the Goshen Girl Scout event in (of course!) Goshen NY on Sunday 3/12.  See the details in the

flyer as well as our calendar listing below.  See you there!  (Note a slight change in the directions add BERKSHIRE bank to the directions (underlined), not the                 Goshen Savings Bank.

  • Civil War and 13 Colonies Programs didn't quite finish yet....

From the Walking List Internet, for those of you who are working on the Civil War book:

Please note the following concerning the AVA Civil War Special Event Program for 2006:

"WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CIVIL WAR HISTORY" has an extended finish date of
December 31, 2006 to allow all participants to finish their books. HOWEVER in 2006 NO NEW BOOKS WILL BE SOLD and NO NEW EVENTS WILL BE ADDED. Participants will be able to finish their books using the qualifying 2005 YR and Seasonal events which are still available in 2006. See our club web site at http://www.ava.org/clubs/york for the list.

President Joan indicates same for the 13 Original States program as well!

·         Starting Point Form -and- Atlantic Events Scheduled attached

Also attached to this newsletter is a STARTING POINT form you can use if you'd like to directly order 2006 STARTING POINT Books from the AVA and you haven't done so yet! Additionally, club Prez Joan provided a copy (as of 12/24) of the Atlantic Region Schedule of events.  Ensure you check with host clubs first before heading out a long ways to ensure things are still scheduled as listed!

BUT!  President Joan still has two copies for sale - you don't end up paying postage if you order through the club!  First come, first serve - send your
request to purchase it ($15) to Joan's email address (jvkimmel@optonline.net.).

  • Current Calendar!
  • These below are 'confirmed' times and dates!

We are sometime asked what a 'Group Walk' (as opposed to a Year Round Event (YRE) or Event) is - We credit our sister club in Albany, the ESCV (EMPIRE                 STATE CAPITAL VOLKSSPORTERS) for the following definition of GROUP walks: "Group Walk  means all meet and signup together at the same time,                         get a map and start together, then you proceed at your own pace.  There are NO GUIDES for this kind of walk.. Nor does a group have to stay together. "; so when
you see this term in our calendar below, you'll now know what it means!   We usually have fast walkers, slow walkers, and medium walkers,  there's                                 almost always someone you can walk with if you join us for your first time in a GROUP WALK!

Changes from the previous month in RED!

Note that the MAY 2006 date for our Round Pond Spring event can not be held that day.  It was previously listed as TENTATIVE.  We will update you with either a             new tentative date, or a final date, when we confirm with
West Point folks.
