Doylestown (Y1187)
Trail passes the girlhood home of Margaret Meade, anthropologist and author, born in 1901. She attended old Doylestown High School, also on the trail. Author of over twenty books and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I attended a lecture she gave at the University of California, San Diego in 1972. It was unforgettable. She died in 1978.
Doylestown is the hometown of James Michener and home of the Michener Art Museum. Michener also attended the old Doylestown High School and there is a historical marker. Author of Hawaii and one of my favorites from high school, The Source.
