Waterfront/Downtown (Y0011)
10 KM & 5 KM

Both walks are rated 2 going along city streets (traffic lights will affect your speed)and paths.  If you plan to sight see or eat along the way, plan for 3 hours or more.  Stairs may be difficult for wheelchairs and strollers on the 10K. Highlights include Seattle Center, Waterfront, Ferry Terminal, Pioneer Square, Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park and Museum, UPS Waterfall Park, International District, Firehouse, and Pike Place Market.  The 5K goes through Seattle Center, the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Belltown Pea Patch Garden.

Start/Finish: Seattle Quality Inn & Suites, 225 Aurora Avenue North (between John and Thomas), Seattle, WA 98109.Ask at desk for walk box. Please have correct change or write a check. The walks are available every day of the year, during daylight hours. Parking is available on nearby streets. (Please don’t use the hotel’s parking lot.)

Pets: Pets are permitted except in buildings. Please obey Seattle’s leash and scoop laws.

Water and Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the start point, Seattle Center, Ferry Terminal, Klondike Gold Rush Park and Pike Place Market.

Fees and Credit: IVV/AVA distance and/or event credit is $3.00. Free walkers are welcome; they must sign our waiver, register in the walk logbook, and carry a start card.

Awards: There is no award for this walk.

Directions: From I-5, take Exit 167 – Mercer St., Fairview Ave. (From the south, exit from the left side of the freeway.) Stay to the right on the ramp turning left onto Fairview at the light. Go five blocks and turn right onto Denny Way. At 6th Avenue North, turn right. Go one block to John Street, and turn right again. The Quality Inn and Suites is on your left. Bus Route #5 from 3rd Avenue in downtown will take you to Denny Park (about four blocks away). You can also reach the Seattle Inn by driving south on Aurora Avenue (Highway 99).
