Year-Round Events

Northgate (Y1221)
10 KM & 5 KM

Both walks are rated a 1+.  The walks go through North Seattle Community College and residential neighborhoods and parks.  The 10K route includes a cemetery (Optional on the 5K route) as well as a paved trail on the railbed of the former Interurban Railroad.  Each route is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Start/Finish: General Nutrition Center (GNC), Northgate Mall, 401 Northgate Way, Seattle. (M-SA 10:00 am-9:30pm. S 11 AM-7 pm).  Ask at counter for the “walk box”. Walk daylight hours only. Closed major holidays.

Pets: Pets are permitted except in buildings and the cemetery. (You can skip the 1 km cemetery, if you have your dog with you.) Please obey Seattle’s leash and scoop laws.

Water and Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the Northgate mall, Bitter Lake Park, & NSCC.

Fees and Credit: IVV/AVA distance and/or event credit is $3.00. Free walkers are welcome; they must sign our waiver, register in the walk logbook, and carry a start card.

Awards: There is no award for this walk.

Directions:From I-5, take Exit 173 (Northgate/1st Ave.NE). Northbound:  Turn right at stoplight onto 1st Ave. NE.  Turn left at next entrance into Mall.  The mall entrance doors are straight ahead.  Park and enter mall --- GNC is on left just past the entrance.  Southbound:  Follow signage for Northgate.  Turn right (east) at stoplight onto Northgate Way.  Turn right on 1st Ave. NE just after passing under freeway.  Turn left at second entrance to mall.  The mall entrance doors are straight ahead.  Park and enter mall – GNC is on left just past the entrance.  For bus information, go to www.Tripplanner.KingCounty.gov or call METRO’s Rider Information Office at 206-553-3000.

Stipulations: By registering for this event, the participant accepts the guidelines for AVA Volkssport events and agrees to observe the principles of good sportsmanship. A waiver, which must be signed by all participants, is included in the registration log. The event is available regardless of weather.
