Counterbalance (Y1530)
11 KM

This is an 11 km walk, rated 3+. It is a rigorous walk which goes down and up Queen Anne Hill twice. Due to steep route, wheelchairs and strollers are discouraged. You descend Queen Anne Hill to the Seattle Pacific campus, then follow Lake Washington Ship Canal. The route ascends the hill, continues around the hilltop, then descends again through lovely residential streets, then climbs to the top again on "The Counterbalance."

Start/Finish: Ken’s Market, 2400 6th Avenue West, Seattle, WA 98119. Look for file cabinet in the entrance and please have correct change or write a check. This walk is available every day of the year. Parking is available on nearby streets. (Please don’t use Ken’s very small lot.)

Pets: Pets are permitted except in buildings and the cemetery. (You can skip the 1 km cemetery, if you have your dog with you.) Please obey Seattle’s leash and scoop laws.

Water and Restrooms: These are available in the Queen Anne Community Center, Rodgers Park, Ken’s Market and restaurants along the route.

Fees and Credit: IVV/AVA distance and/or event credit is $3.00. Free walkers are welcome; they must sign our waiver, register in the walk logbook, and carry a start card.

Awards: There is no award for this walk.

Directions:From I-5, take Exit 169, NE 45th – NE 50th St.  Go west (toward SPU) on 45th.  Turn left on Fremont Ave. N., cross the Fremont Bridge, turn right onto Nickerson, left (at SPU) onto 3rd W., right onto McGraw.  Ken’s Market is located at 6th W. and W.
