Year-Round Events

Capitol Hill/Downtown (Y0733)
10 KM & 5 KM

Both walks are rated a 2.  The walks are on sidewalks and park paths through some of Seattle’s oldest and most colorful neighborhoods, as well as a part of downtown Seattle.  Each proceeds along Broadway Avenue past intriguing shops and restaurants, as well as Seattle Central Community College.  The 10K route also passes through Volunteer Park, designed by the Olmstead brothers, which contains a conservatory, the Seattle Asian Art Museum and a view (water) tower offering territorial views.  Both routes are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Start/Finish: Play It Again Sports,1304 Stewart St., Seattle. Ask at the counter for the "walk box". Walk daylight hours only. Closed major holidays.

Pets: Pets are permitted except in buildings and the cemetery. Please obey Seattle’s leash and scoop laws.

Water and Restrooms: Restrooms are available at REI, Volunteer Park, shops and restaurants.

Fees and Credit: IVV/AVA distance and/or event credit is $3.00. Free walkers are welcome; they must sign our waiver, register in the walk logbook, and carry a start card.

Awards: There is no award for this walk.

Directions: From I-5, take exit 167 Mercer/Fairview (frm the south, exit from the left side of freeway). Stay to the left on the exit ramp and turn left on Fairview at light. Continue to John St., then turn left to Yale Ave. Turn right on Yale Ave. Start point is located at the corner of Yale, Denny Way & Stewart St. For bus information, go to www.Tripplanner.KingCounty.gov or call METRO’s Rider Information Office at 206-553-3000.

Stipulations: By registering for this event, the participant accepts the guidelines for AVA Volkssport events and agrees to observe the principles of good sportsmanship. A waiver, which must be signed by all participants, is included in the registration log. The event is available regardless of weather.
