The East County Wind Walkers are based in Gresham Oregon.  We meet the second Thursday of every month except July, August and December, in the Cascade Room at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center, 24800 SE Stark Street, in Gresham.

We are always happy to hear from new walkers, and invite you to come to the next East County Wind Walkers club meeting.

We gather at 6:45 for refreshments and social time before the business meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Group Walks  Except for "workers walks" (an opportunity for those who will be working at the walk to walk it in advance of the event), historically, we don’t do many group walks.  Our events provide a minimum of three hours for people to complete the events so walkers start whenever they wish after the specified start time (until the deadline for starting – usually 1 p.m.), and finish at their own pace, as long as they get back before the closing time.  We have walkers who do the walks in just two hours and some that take 3 or 4 hours to do them.  It is not a competitive walk, so most of us walk at our own comfortable pace.  Those training to walk a marathon, of course, are looking to break their own time.

Hosted Events.  We host several events through the calendar year.  You can check back here or look for our flyers at other hosted events throughout Oregon.

Year Rounds.  We also sponsor 9 year around walks and 2 seasonal bikes.  The year around walks can be done whenever you wish, within the limitations imposed by the hours at the start point.  Many are open daily from 7 a.m. or daylight to dusk.  Walks start from two hospitals (Portland Adventist, and Legacy Mt. Hood (with two routes each) Gateway Fred Meyer (2 routes), Safeway Store at 182nd and Powell, Pony Soldier Inn on Cleveland Street in Gresham,  one route from the Wood Village Meyer, and the Holiday Inn Express in Troutdale.

Should you decide to visit one of our start points, you should find a lavender brochure that tells you about each walk and provides the information about the start point and hours.

Better yet, visit our next meeting and pick up an information sheet from one of the officers!   You may even find other walkers with whom to walk.   We have some very active walkers and are always happy to welcome more.  There is no cost to attend a meeting.  Yearly membership dues are $10.00 for a single and $15.00 for a family.  If you walk for credit, the fee is $3.00 per person.

I hope you find our club to be a "good fit" for you, and that you will join us.
